Max Andrews is a curator and writer based in Barcelona, Spain. He is a graduate of the BA Critical Fine Art Practice, University of Brighton (1995–8) and the MA Curating Contemporary Art, Royal College of Art (2001–3). He was Associate Editor of Contemporary Visual Arts magazine (1998–2000) and Curatorial Fellow at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis (2003–04) where he assisted on projects with artists including Kiki Smith, Christian Marclay and Thomas Hirschhorn. As Special Projects Curatorial Assistant to Director, Tate, London (2004–5), he was responsible for several key acquisitions for the Tate collection including pieces by Luciano Fabro, Lawrence Weiner, Juan Muñoz and Rodney Graham. He is a Staff Writer for Frieze and has contributed to magazines including Tate Etc., British Birds, Untitled, Wonderland and UOVO and books including Bits & Pieces Put Together to Present a Semblance of a Whole: Walker Art Center Collections" (2005), Henrik Hakansson (2005), Frieze Art Fair Yearbooks (2005–8), Day for Night: Whitney Biennial 2006 and Life on Mars: 55th Carnegie International 2008. Mariana Cánepa Luna is a curator and writer based in Barcelona, Spain. She studied Art History (Universitat de Barcelona, 1995–2000) and Cinema History (DAMS, Università degli Studi di Bologna, 1999) before completing the MA Curating Contemporary Art, Royal College of Art, 2002–4. She worked at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, Venice (2000) and at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, where she assisted in the production of the retrospective Frank Gehry, Architect (2001). Following this, she assisted at the US (2000) and the UK Pavilions (2003) during the Venice Biennale. Between 2004–5 she worked at the Serpentine Gallery, London, on a fellowship supported by Fondation de France (FdF). There she initiated a commission applying the FdF’s Nouveaux Commanditaires model in London, and organised the conference ‘Art in the Public Realm’ which presented four international models of commissioning art for the public space.
